Now is approaching the time for our regular rank testing, which will take place on Friday, June 21st, 2024, it will start at 6.00 pm sharp (please do not be late) and will finish around approximate 7.40 pm – 8.00 pm.

The testing procedure (not promotions or fees) is mandatory for everyone.

If you are first time tested and will be promoted, you will have to pay a bit more, as it will include a set of 4 patches for your uniform (only first time).
That will also include the testing fee itself (only taken if your child is promoted), cost of new belt (if color of the belt is changing), as well a certificate from our main style organization if you need a proof of your child level, it is mandatory only from green belt.

Now the costs for anyone, with or without promotion:
$15 only the first time – set of 4 patches for uniform which shows that you are a member of our school.
What is mandatory if you were promoted:
$20 – testing fee
$10 – new color belt (if it changes as a result of promotion), if you have a belt of needed color, you can use your belt, you must inform your instructor in advance.
$15 – certificate from our main style organization to officially prove your child level – it is mandatory only for green belts and up (not mandatory for white and yellow belts).

For example, if you are first time tested and promoted to white belt with yellow stripe (or yellow belt) total cost will be only this first-time 15+20+10=$45, if with certificate it will be 15+20+10+15=$60. I repeat again that is only this first time, next promotion, for example for yellow belt will cost only 20+10=$30 or with certificate 20+10+15=$45, and the one after that for yellow belt with one stripe it will be $20 or with certificate 20+15=$35

That is an open event, you can bring your friends and relatives to encourage your kid’s performance.

North York Open – March 24, 2024

13 athletes – 11 medals:

2 Gold, 1 Silver and 8 Bronze medals.

Ontario Open – April 14, 2024:

We will share 2 dates for our students to mark in their calendar:

1. Friday, January 19, 2024 – our regular testing – grading – promotion will take place. It will be held at Herbert H. Carnegie Centre (Arena) – Silver Blade Room (our usual Friday location), from 6 pm till 8 pm. All additional information will be shared closer to the event.
2. Sunday, March 24, 2024 – our yearly tournament date, all detailed information will be shared in February 2024.

During Christmas Vacation, we will not have Karate classes on following dates:

1. Friday, December 22, 2023
2. Monday, December 25, 2023
3. Tuesday, December 26, 2023
4. Monday, January 1, 2024

Beside these dates all other training sessions will take place including December 27, 28 and 29, 2023 and after January 2, 2024.

Earl Bales CC will cancel all kids programs on Tuesday, October 31st – Halloween evening – as they did last year. As a consequence, we will have to cancel our training sessions on that day. Affected students can come instead of Tuesday, October 31st on Monday, October 30th on our other location – Herbert H. Carnegie Centennial Centre – 580 Finch Ave West with the same schedule.

This year, as 9 years before that, Shorinryu Matsumura Seito Suiken Hokkokan and York Centre Karate will participate in 100 Kata Challenge for Karate Day. That will take place at Herbert H. Carnegie Centennial Centre – 580 Finch Ave West – Silver Blade Room on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 8.00 pm

Our Karate based Pankration/MMA program will start on Monday, September 11, 2023 at Herbert H. Carnegie Centennial Centre, from 7.45 pm till 9.15 pm, same time with our Youth/Adults program. And will be 3 times per week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday on same time.
